About me

Gemma Tur FerrerDifficult task to introduce myself. If I had to sum up my own presentation, I would simply say that I am a teacher through and through: passionate about education; a lifetime devoted to it.

I am an educational technologist with a Phd on eportfolios (University of the Balearic Islands, 2013).

I am School of Education coordinator at the local branch in Ibiza of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where I am an associate lecturer in Teacher Education programmes, for both Infant and Primary Teacher Education. Also, I am lecturer in the MA programme in Secondary Teacher Education, which I coordinate. I am in charge of other educational programmes such as the Senior Open University and the Summer University of Ibiza and Formentera.

As for research, I collaborate with the Group of Educational Technology (GTE) at the UIB. My main research interests are focused on educational technology such as eportfolios, Personal Learning Environments, the social media in education and, in general, technology in Teacher Education.

I arrived at the Univeristy after ten years as an English Primary teacher. Since the school year 2009-10 I have been devoted full time to Higher Education. And my only wish is that I can continue learning and lecturing, reading and writing, researching and working for education… Nothing less, nothing more.
